Sprott Shaw College’s Early Childhood Education diploma program follows the approved Ministry for Children and Family Development curriculum to prepare you for employment opportunities in preschools, family and group childcare, before and after school care, recreational programs and more. Our program focuses on communication, interpersonal and teaching skills while strengthening your knowledge of key areas within the field of early childhood education. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for an Early Childhood Educator license from the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

  • Learn to create a positive learning environment by developing and leading daily activities for children that nourish and promote their social, verbal, emotional, physical, cognitive and early-reading development
  • Study the cultural, economic and generational influences on child development and help build collaborative relationships between parents, schools and the community
  • Participate in several field-related practicums to put your new skills into practice, lead children in activities and strengthen your observational and assessment skills
