Sprott Shaw College’s Primary Care Paramedic diploma program offers preceptorships and placements with BC Emergency Health Services (BC-EHS) throughout the program that provides valuable practical experience while you study. Our immersive curriculum also includes skill labs, role plays, simulations and recorded or live demonstrations. Key program highlights

  • You will study such topics as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and accident management as you learn to address medical emergencies, including major trauma, psychiatric, obstetric or neo-natal emergencies, and physical or mental impairment.
  • Develop your skills in verbal and written communication, cultural awareness, legal and ethical considerations, crew resource management, personal safety and more.
  • Throughout the program, you will actively participate in preceptorships or practicums in acute care, ambulance, palliative care, urgent care and acute-psychological care.
  • You will be issued an initial student license to practice under supervision and become eligible for a full license for independent practice.
