Sprott Shaw College’s Early Childhood Education Children with Exceptionalities diploma program follows the approved Ministry for Children and Family Development curriculum to prepare you for career path as a childcare centre supervisor, early childhood educator, after school care supervisor and more. You will learn to create and develop activities that promote the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and early literacy skills of children with special needs. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for an Early Childhood Educator license from the Ministry for Children and Family Development.
- Gain an in-depth knowledge of child growth and development, licensing and registration regulations, policies and procedures, child guidance practices and childcare centre design
- Help develop indoor and outdoor activities for children with special needs, such as neurological disabilities, visual and/or hearing impairments and more
- Participate in a field-related practicum where you can apply your skills in a real work environment and gain the confidence and experience to successfully launch your new career
