With Sprott Shaw College’s Early Childhood Education Assistant program, you will develop the observational, communication and team-leading skills required to pursue opportunities in childcare centres, preschools, kindergartens, special education programs and more. With a strong foundational knowledge of children’s developmental changes, you will be prepared to create and lead activities that promote a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.

  • Learn to establish open and collaborative relationships with the children and their families as well as your colleagues
  • Learn to ensure the health, safety and proper nutrition of each child in your care, to understand the causes and characteristics of inappropriate behaviour and to resolve problems and conflicts effectively
  • Participate in a 4-week field-related practicum allows you to put your new skills into practice in a real-world environment
  • Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for an Early Childhood Education Assistant license from the Ministry for Children and Family Development
